Located in Calvi, on the west coast of Corsica, the STARESO research station has developed expertise in oceanography and coastal biology over the past fifty years.
A new client of the shipyard, its requirement is the construction of a catamaran type workboat that will allow the work of its scientific team to be extended to all the coastal environments of Corsica and beyond.
To do this, STARESO has surrounded itself with the maritime expert François PREVOT, who is piloting the project at his side, and a naval architecture firm, the company PROFILS, which has worked on the design of this catamaran.
Its teams will ensure the construction on the basis of the plans of the architect Eric JEAN.
This vessel should start to see the light of day in our workshops by the end of January 2023 for a delivery to the client scheduled for November 2023.
The vessel is equipped with a hybrid propulsion, consisting of 2 sets of a 230 hp diesel engine and an electric motor driving the same propeller shaft.
The electric motors are powered by 96 volt batteries.
Solar panels (10m2) will also be installed to provide energy for the on-board batteries.
The ship will be equipped with a winch for the launching of measuring instruments, as well as the necessary facilities for scuba diving and for loading scientific equipment.
As for the interior layout, the research teams will be able to benefit from 4 bunks for outings over several days, a kitchenette and a bathroom with toilet.
The vessel will have a service speed of 15 knots, an economic speed of 9 to 12 knots, and electric propulsion will be used at working speed, from 0 to 6 knots.
The main characteristics of the vessel:
- 100% aluminium ship
- Hull length : 11.98 m
- Load capacity on deck: 1.5 tons
- Rear deck : 26 m2
- Loaded draft: 1.20 m [distance between the bottom of the keel and the waterline].
Specializing in the design and construction of crew boats, we stand out for our unique know-how and our commitment to innovation and quality.
Whether for offshore wind energy or the offshore oil market, our fast, robust and reliable passenger vessels meet the industry's most demanding requirements.
EFINOR will be present at the next edition of the Euromaritime trade show to be held on January 30-31 and February 1, 2024 in Marseille - Parc Chanot.
